Lifestyle Changes That Can Bring A Stop To Leaky Gut Syndrome

Health & Medical Blog

There are various medical conditions that can contribute to leaky gut disease, from allergies to Crohn's disease. The gut becomes inflamed and will become more porous as a result. The porousness is the result of the leaky gut being unable to repair itself either due to a medical condition or stress. Then, objects that normally would not be allowed to pass through your gut are allowed to. Luckily, there are some things you can do to treat leaky gut syndrome.

Adjust Your Diet

Lectins are one of the main causes of a leaky gut. While consuming a small quantity of lectins is fine, when you consume too much, you will be more likely to suffer from a leaky gut. Foods that contain lectins include:

  • Soy
  • Rice
  • Wheat
  • Spelt

There are some tricks you can use to reduce the amount of lectins in grain. For example, you can ferment grains. Sprouting grains also reduces the lectin problem. Conventional milk can also contribute to leaky gut. If you want to keep milk in your diet, it is recommended that you consume raw milk.

Reduce Stress

Stress is one of the main causes of leaky gut. Light yoga and meditation are two of the most effective activities for lowering stress. Make sure to mix in more vigorous forms of exercise, such as running and cycling. Look for ways to reduce the amount of obligations that you have everyday so that you can spend more time engaging in activities that you enjoy, such as art, sex, or attending a comedy routine. All three of these activities are not only fun, but have also been found to reduce stress. Make sure to get more sleep and spend more time with people who are positive.

Restore Balance In Your Gut Flora

Your body has gut flora, which are bacteria that play an important role in the health of your digestive system. Both good and bad bacteria can be found in the gut. When the bacteria in your gut are out of balance, one way to restore the balance of your gut, combat leaky gut syndrome, and make yourself more regular is to eat probiotic yogurt or to consume some other probiotic product that reintroduces good bacteria to your gut.  It is important to visit a doctor to receive a leaky gut syndrome test, but there is no reason why you can't introduce any of these changes into your lifestyle in order to help reduce the symptoms of leaky gut.
