The hormonal changes that take place during this period can lead to increased anxiety and stress. In extreme cases, this can make it harder to concentrate and simply deal with day-to-day struggles in life. Increasing your consumption of whole grains can offer some assistance in this area.

Whole grains, including brown rice and steel-cut oatmeal, are rich in B-complex vitamins. This is important because this group of vitamins naturally reduce stress, while also giving you a boost of energy. With these benefits you can increase your focus and better tackle whatever comes your way.


When the air temperature is thirty-two degrees, but you feel like it is at least one-hundred degrees, this is no fun at all. Consider adding soy into your diet to help manage these hot flashes. There is some research that supports the idea that soy has built-in isoflavones that can mimic estrogen when inside the body.

Estrogen can help regulate many things within your body, including hot flashes. While it does not make up for the decrease in estrogen, by consuming more soy-based foods you may be able to somewhat trick the body. Tofu and edamame are two great options to consider.


It's always important to consume water and menopause is no exception to this rule. During menopause, vaginal dryness is a common and highly irritating problem many women deal with that is caused by a reduction in estrogen production. While no amount of water can offset this decrease, increasing your water intake can help.

Throughout the vaginal area are mucous membranes, which are responsible for moisture production. When the body is hydrated, they secrete moisture through the skin. When you are dehydrated this doesn't happen. At the very least, try to consume at least eight glasses of water each day.
